Community Regeneration Workshop

Thank you to everyone who came to the workshop on Monday. It was great to see so many people there of all ages and to hear all the positive ideas. The next task will be to collate all the contributions to formulate the next steps and future workshops.  Once collated I will post the main themes and ideas.

Best wishes

Ray

Election 2016

I am delighted to announce that I will be standing for election for the new constituency of Glenfaba and Peel.
Since being elected nine months ago as MHK for Peel, it has been a privilege to serve and to initiate positive change. Many important projects have begun which I hope to see come to fruition over the next few years such as the completion of a sewage treatment plant and the regeneration projects in Peel.
The way in which we approach the next five years is crucial. Innovation and vision are needed to deal with the impact of Brexit effectively, to find creative solutions for the public services pension and budget deficit, to grow the economy and reshape government to meet future challenges.

I am passionate about working with others to serve the community and move forward with what is best for the Isle of Man.

Tynwald to debate Brexit Impact tomorrow

The Brexit result was a shock and probably one of most significant events in recent history.

The Isle of Man is not in the EU, but our relationship with the EU is defined by protocol 3 which ends when the UK leaves.
Protocol 3 gives us access to the single market for goods but not for services, and an agreement which allows free movement of people. Critical to the Isle of Man is that we are not forgotten when new treaties are signed with the UK.
The impact of Brexit on the Isle of Man will be debated tomorrow Tuesday June 28th.

There are two reports, the first interim report on the potential consequences of Brexit for the Island, and the second report, setting out how a new relationship between the UK and the EU might function, as well as explaining how other small European jurisdictions manage their relationships with the EU.
